She was a talented swimmer during her teenage years and earned the award of junior swimming champion in high school.

Kate struggled to get pregnant naturally after an operation at age 29 left her with only 1 ovary. Nevertheless, after numerous failed attempts with IVF, she finally conceived daughter Clemency in 2011.
